Mistakes to avoid on your wedding day..

Sometimes, you are so excited and focused on your special day, that you don’t remember the little things! Hopefully this will help!

  1. Forgetting to eat. Something as simple as eating breakfast may not be at the forefront of your mind on your wedding day, but nobody wants to feel lightheaded while they’re saying their vows! Make sure you have a big hearty breakfast the morning of, just incase you don’t get to eat until 4pm! Preparing some little snacks to nibble on while getting ready too can be a great help. At least something to soak up those couple of glasses of bubbly while getting your hair and make up done! Also, don’t forget to enjoy the delicious food at your reception. A lot of work has gone into planning your day so don’t miss out!

2. Over scheduling your photographer. When planning your group shots, try and narrow it down to maybe 10-12 different group shots. Sometimes it can be natural to plan pages and pages of group shot photos with the cousin you see once every 5 years, but if you narrow it down, this way your photographer can make sure that those candid moments are captured, and there is more time for your couples portraits.

Top tip: meet up with your photographer, or have a video call 4-6 weeks before, so that you can through a shot list together. This way you know what to expect on the day, and your photographer knows who to shoot and when to shoot! Also delegate someone to round up the family members during group photos! This is a great help when the photographer hasn’t met Uncle Larry yet but they are running around the venue shouting LARRY!!!!

3. Taking on too much DIY. There are SOME things that you can leave to the professionals. That’s why we are here after all! Don’t stress yourself out on the morning of your wedding day with last minute DIY centre pieces or rushing off to the venue to set up your own wedding cake. Where possible, try and include setting up in your suppliers packages. You’ll want to have time to get ready yourself. Your wedding day will fly by and it’s important to soak up every moment. `

Top tip: One evening if you don’t have anything to do. Set up your centre pieces at home, and any other decor that you are providing. Get it how you think is perfect, take a picture and send to you venue! That way they know how you want it set up.

4. Not planning timings of the day. The chances are, your wedding day won’t stick to the exact timings, but if you plan the order to the best you can, there can always be ways to catch up with yourself. Try not to have long periods of times where your guests have nothing to do. Especially if you are having children at your wedding. Things like garden games, or magicians can be a great way to entertain your guests during couples portraits and whilst waiting to sit down for food.

Top tip: Remember, registrars are super busy! Try to leave enough time to get ready and do what you need to do before seeing the registrar!

5. Put yourself first. Although you will consider your guests on the day, and you want them to have a great time, your wedding day is for you and your partner. It’s not about pleasing other people! Make sure the day is what you want it to be. If you want a bouncy castle, get one! If you want a mini crazy golf course, get one! Heck, if you want some one walking around with a baby dinosaur… Get one!

6. Remember to enjoy your day. Remember that you are the VIP’s on your wedding day. The whole world revolves around you. If things go wrong, go with it. Don’t stress. The day will go so quickly just make sure you bask in your glory! Remember, have fun, do what you want, eat what you want, drink what you want and dance like no one is watching!!
